Echoes From The Soul DevLog 01
Hello everyone, this is the 1st DevLog of this project. Starting today we will be updating this project once per month with big changes and always release a new devlog with all the changes that has been made to the project and things related to it.
To start I would like to say that now we have a public Discord Server! So everyone that plays this game can give us some feedbacks and also be updated 1st about the changes to the game. We will always post there the changes one week in advance compared to here on Itch.io, other news is that now we also have a Twitter (X) and Instagram page for our Studio, NG+Studios. So you guys can also follow us there to see us interact and keep in touch with the updates of the game!
Now talking about the game, this update has been fully focused on the Level Design, the reason we decided to focus only on the Level Design, is based on the feedback of everyone that played, most of you felt a lack of Puzzles and more challenges to the game, so we decided to change the progression of the game and add way more puzzles and challenges and also good reasons for you guys to do some backtracking!
I hope you guys enjoy this new update and have some great feedbacks for us, without your guys help this game won’t be this good!
Before I close this and start listing the changelog, I would like to say that for the next month’s update it will be fully focused on the Enemy’s AI and also releasing Jester as a boss, so you guys can fight against it!
CHANGELOG:
- TITLE SCREEN: The title screen has been changed and now it has new visuals and also a menu to show the credits of the game!
- DASH: Now the dash ability is locked from the start and you need to explore to get it back
- DIXION (bug): Dixion’s II AI has been fixed, in the past it had a bug where you could just be above it’s head and keep hitting the Dixion I.
- AREA 0 CATHEDRAL: We have added more 5 rooms to the Cathedral, some of them are just backtracking rooms where you can get special items, and others are rooms where you are now forced to go thought to get items to progress in your journey
- MINIMAP: The Minimap has been changed now to be able to show better your progress though the scenes
- MODELS: Some new enemies has been added to the game and some other’s had it’s placeholder model’s changed for the finalized versions, all of this can be found on AREA 1 Amusement Park.
- AREA 1 AMUSEMENT PARK: We have added more 14 rooms to the Amusement Park and remove 1 room. With this the progression of the player will be greatly changed.
- Bug: Fixed the ”Level Up” Text in the PT-BR Translation that was overflowing
- Bug: Fixed the Breakable Objects System that was bugged and didn’t reproduce a sound when the object was broken
- Bug: Fixed the Loading Scene System that sometimes if the player was faster than the PC loading the scene this would make the player go to the VOID.
- Bug: Making the character stop when entering a loading, in the past the character would be walking in-place if you entered a loading while dashing
- Bug: Fixed the UI placement on different aspect ratios, now you should be able to play on all the supported aspect ratios
- Bug: Made the Jester walk sound be less loud
- Bug: Fixed the cursor that would bug sometimes in the pause menu
- Improvements: Reduced the number of enemies on Area 1
- Quality Of Life: Improved the Item System
- Improvements: Removed the Loading Bar from the Loading Screen
- Improvements: Making Meemo’s Demon Shot less OverPower
- Improvements: Made the Player fall while attacking in air
- Quality Of Life: Changed the way you move between menus
- Quality Of Life: Changed the Font on the Dialogue Box so now it’s easier to read
- Quality Of Life: Added some small dialogue for when the player tries to open a closed door
- CUTSCENE: Changed the Intro Cutscenes on Area 0 to make it more cinematic and immersive
- Quality Of Life: Added a HP Bar above the enemies head, so now it’s easy to know how much HP it has and how much damage you are giving him.
- Improvements: Added Drop Items and Chests to the Scenarios
